Parkway ER,
You people are the best! I was in there Wednesday, June 9 at 6:30pm to have my head “patched up” from being pushed off the back deck by my dog. From the moment I entered Parkway until the moment I left I couldn’t have been treated any better. You showed me concern, help, pleasantness, and respect. What else would a person need or want- nothing! I am very proud to have Parkway Hospital in our area. I Thank Each and Every one of you for such wonderful care. You all sure know how to make a person’s bad day into a better one.
Sincerely,
J. Miller
Too many times people complain about problems rather than working together to solve them. I’d like to take an opportunity to recognize a few people that worked together yesterday during a high stress situation to ensure that one of our tiniest patients got the best care possible.
Last night, right before shift change, L/D delivered a baby that required critical care. I watched Denise from the Nursery work as efficiently as the NICU nurses at HH… Zack from RT handled the ventilator like he’d been doing it for decades. Connie ran the department while I organized the transfer. Andee (Tech from MedSurg) worked the desk and handled the family of the patient. Whitney from ER assisted me with rushing registration to complete the admission paperwork so the patient could be transferred with the correct information.
I witnessed an organized effort from multiple departments and am proud to be a part of this facility and am impressed with the dedication and teamwork that is exhibited on a daily basis. I work at HH- ED and personally know some of the members of the Kid’s Care Team that came to PMC to transport this baby, and the entire team commented to me last night on PMC’s ability to stabilize and transfer efficiently and appropriately. Just for the record, compliments don’t flow freely from HH!
Good job everyone!

Dear Mr. Tim McGill & My Parkway Family,
I wanted to take a few minutes just to send a note and let you know what a wonderful group of people we have working at PMC. I just had to have another unexpected surgery this past Friday, the 18th, at this wonderful facility I am an employee and a patient of. PMC continues to go beyond my expectations as an outstanding hospital from the time I have had to bring my children in to the ER to the times that I have had to have surgery myself. I want to start by thanking the group of girls from the PAT dept. (Sherry, Roxanne & Chrystal), the wonderful loving nurses of the outpatient surgery dept. (Betty, Linda & Bertha), and the wonderful nurses of the PACU dept. (Lisa & Carrie). My biggest thanks goes to my personal coworkers in the OR dept. for making me feel as comfortable as possible (I think it is a little harder on us since we know every detail involved in our procedure). Thanks to my transporter Dennis, he is the bomb and really knows how to drive a stretcher! Dr. Markham, I honestly have to say that he is the best of the best of all the Anesthesiologists that I know – we would be lost without him. Our secretary (and employee of the year 2009) Vicki Bramlett, the smile she gives the patients just sends caring warmth across our souls. Sheila Sheffield, my supervisor – she is the bomb, need I say more!!! If we are in need of ANYTHING, Sheila handles it (she is our backbone!). A special thanks to my OR team Dr. Glenn Ward, Kristi Terrell (CST) - Ward’s Assist., Carie Cole (ORT), Vicky Garrison (RN), & Maria Bolyard (CRNA), they were wonderful in giving me the best care possible and making my surgery go smooth! Thanks to our OR director Becky Wheeler (RN, DSS), for all that she does for our department and the patients. Parkway has been my 2nd home going on almost 4 years now. I am blessed at the opportunities that have been given to me as an employee and am privileged to work with some of the “finest doctors” around! What an honor it is to tell family and friends of my own personal working & patient experience I have received from Parkway. Thank you so much!!!
Sincerely,
S. Taylor
I am at home recovering from my knee replacement on May 25th. I had my first therapy session on June 1st and will have another today and tomorrow. You all know how I love those therapy sessions. Just wanted to send a quick note to let everyone know I am doing well and had the best service and care anyone including myself could have wanted during my hospital stay. From my entry into the hospital, PAT service was excellent, I was given everything I needed and shown to my room with all the paperwork was completed very quickly. I was then deprived and my clothing and given substitution clothing with rear cabin ventilation and air conditioning. Soon I was introduced to Dennis’s limousine service and given a most comfortable ride to the OR. From there I was placed behind a curtain, given a shave and a haircut, stuck a couple of times, asked if I knew my name and birthday (I think they thought my memory was going), seen by the resident bartender Wayne Bowman and given the best Lawrence County hooch made. I then found myself in the OR with a group of criminals lined up against the wall, (I knew this because they were all masked and holding their hands in a guilty fashion). Soon I was strapped down and placed in the execution position. The next thing I knew, I was being awakened and returned to my room. From this point, I received the best nursing care that I have ever been exposed to. Everyone was great- from Dietary, Housekeeping, Lab (I remember Stephanie especially), Cardio Pulmonary Services and Physical Therapy. I’ve tried to remember as many names as possible all of whom should receive much praise- Tia Martens, Kip Estes, Dawn Stowe, Flo Sharpley, Matilda, Deann, and Matt. I know I have left someone out but not intentionally. I spoke with Connie before I left and told her that from my previous surgery last June that care and attention provided by the PMC staff has improved at least 200% if not more. Everyone should be congratulated and encouraged to keep up the good work. It is easy sometimes to raise the bar but to maintain that level is the challenge. My thanks to all of the PMC staff and I challenge you to keep up the good work. Please share my thanks with your staff.
Thanks and God Bless you all. Hope to see everyone soon.

Dear Mr. McGill:
I entered you facility for the first time under very somber conditions… I came to say goodbye to my dying father. My “Daddy” was suffering the wrath of “end stage congestive heart failure” and was transferred to your ER from a local rehabilitation facility.
When I entered the doors of the ER, a kind soul named Stacey Herren met and led me to a private area to wait for other relatives to arrive. Shortly afterward, Dr. George briefed our family on my father’s grave condition. My family and I were so grateful for his patience, compassion and articulate analysis of the efforts taken to sustain his life. In the end, my family felt very “included” in every phase of life support given my father.
Finally, the dreaded procedures of paperwork and funeral preparations seemed less difficult with the guidance of your supervisor RN, Wendy DuFrene. She patiently explained and instructed each part of this painful process as we began to grieve the loss of our loved one.
My father retired from Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Alabama in Providers Affairs Relations in the fall of 1989. His primary focus was to ease the flow of business between his company and healthcare providers. It fills me with peace to know my father was “provided” that very level of healthcare he worked so hard to protect for his customers.
When I departed the ER that cold evening, I was so thankful for the meticulous care given my father on his last day. Additionally, I was filled with gratitude for the attention and love shown to me and my family on such a sad occasion. They say “you only have one opportunity to make a first impression”… please know how eternally grateful I am for the one you left with me!
Very sincerely,
Leigh L.
“Everybody was wonderful; they were Johnny on the spot. I felt like I had everyone’s full attention, from the person that did the x-ray to the person giving me the breathing treatment. I especially want to thank Teresa, my nurse. It was a wonderful visit. I was there 2 months ago and it was wonderful then too and I should have let you know then. I will recommend you to everyone I know and will be back if I need to.”

Thank you for sponsoring our assembly for World AIDS Day. The assembly was wonderful and would not have been possible without your donation. We appreciate your support for our student body.

To Whom It May Concern:
If I had to go back into the hospital tomorrow, I would go to Parkway Medical Center. My recent stay there due to Scarlet Fever was exemplary. Your staff kept me as relaxed and calm as I could be. My wife was also at ease as well. When I arrived, the admission process went quickly and I was taken to my room. The nurses and staff worked as diligently as possible to get me settled in and relaxed. The nurse that put in my I.V., even though I was very dehydrated, got in the first try. From that point on, I felt like they were at my service at the push of a button, and at no time day or night did I feel like an annoyance. I was there three days and felt more like a guest than a patient.
I would really like to say to all the nurses and staff, “Thank you for all your hard work and dedication.”
Also, for putting the word “care” back in caregiver.
Sincerely Yours,
R. Fialk
My wife had foot surgery at you facility in 2009. We arrived about 5:45am and were going the wrong way when we approached a staff member who not only told us which way to go; he escorted us to the right place. As your staff prepared my wife for surgery everyone was very helpful and encouraging.
When she was taken into surgery, I was escorted to the waiting room which was very comfortable. After the surgery, the doctor informed me the surgery went well and was very encouraging. Upon leaving your facility a staff member was helping my wife in the car. She suggested keeping the plastic bag in the front seat and she placed the bag in my wife’s lap, on the way back to Huntsville it came in handy (if you know what I mean). I would like to thank you and your staff for being so kind and helpful while being at your facility. By the way, the coffee was very good.
Please convey my thanks to each and every one who had a part in my wife’s surgery.
Thank you,
Thank you,
Thank you,

Dear Parkway,
Thanks so much for letting the Adventureland Preschool come to the Teddy Bear Clinic. You always make this a very enjoyable field trip for our four and five year olds. Again, thanks to you for your efforts and time!
