You people are the best! I was in there Wednesday, June 9 at 6:30pm to have my head “patched up” from being pushed off the back deck by my dog. From the moment I entered Parkway until the moment I left I couldn’t have been treated any better. You showed me concern, help, pleasantness, and respect. What else would a person need or want- nothing! I am very proud to have Parkway Hospital in our area. I Thank Each and Every one of you for such wonderful care. You all sure know how to make a person’s bad day into a better one.

Sincerely,

J. Miller

Too many times people complain about problems rather than working together to solve them. I’d like to take an opportunity to recognize a few people that worked together yesterday during a high stress situation to ensure that one of our tiniest patients got the best care possible.

Last night, right before shift change, L/D delivered a baby that required critical care. I watched Denise from the Nursery work as efficiently as the NICU nurses at HH… Zack from RT handled the ventilator like he’d been doing it for decades. Connie ran the department while I organized the transfer. Andee (Tech from MedSurg) worked the desk and handled the family of the patient. Whitney from ER assisted me with rushing registration to complete the admission paperwork so the patient could be transferred with the correct information.

I witnessed an organized effort from multiple departments and am proud to be a part of this facility and am impressed with the dedication and teamwork that is exhibited on a daily basis. I work at HH- ED and personally know some of the members of the Kid’s Care Team that came to PMC to transport this baby, and the entire team commented to me last night on PMC’s ability to stabilize and transfer efficiently and appropriately. Just for the record, compliments don’t flow freely from HH!

Good job everyone!

Our story begins about 6 years ago. My husband and I got married in February 2002 and we wanted to start a family pretty quickly. I went off birth control in October 2002 and tried for several months to conceive with no success. We went to Decatur Physicians for Women to see my OB/GYN, Dr Gilliam, she ran a series of lab tests and ultrasounds and determined that I have Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS). We were referred to a very unprofessional reproductive endocrinologist in Huntsville and I did get pregnant twice with two miscarriages.

We took a break for a while so we could regain our sanity and for our financial sake and went back to Dr Gilliam who told us about a physician in Birmingham, Dr Honea, who was reported to have good outcomes. We went to see her and loved her immediately. After a long series of multiple lab sticks, ultrasounds, two surgeries, medications, and failed attempts, we were finally able to conceive our daughter. It took us 6 long years to get her here but it was certainly worth it. Lyla Grace Huggins was born June 26, 2008 at 5:03 p.m. at Parkway Medical Center by c-section. I had no complications and very little morning sickness. We didn’t really have an idea for her name, it was just a name I liked and it certainly fits her.

Lyla is two now, and we are expecting again. I am 16 weeks along and can’t wait to find out the sex of this baby but it will be at least another month. It only took us 3 months to conceive this time. I have been a lot more nauseated with this pregnancy than I was with Lyla. We are so excited- our second child’s story is just beginning…

“The first word that comes to mind when I think of my job here at Parkway Medical Center is ‘family.’ Not only do we, as co-workers, hold each other to the highest standards within our hospital family, we also put our patients first and care for them as we would our own family.

The past two years that I have worked at parkway have been very rewarding. I take each responsibility of my job seriously, while striving to make interactions fun and friendly.

I want to thank each and every co-worker, physician, visitor and patient for making Parkway Medical Center a wonderful place for me to work. I am truly blessed, and I thank God for allowing me to be a part of the Parkway Medical Center Family.”
