Loud Snoring? Sleepless Nights? Separate Bedrooms? The Sleep Disorders Center At Parkway Can Help!
When you sleep, your body rests and restores its energy levels. However, sleep is an active state that affects both your physical and mental well-being. A good night’s sleep is often the best way to help you cope with stress, solve problems, or recover from illness.
Unfortunately over 70 million people have some type of sleep disorder which can make getting the sleep needed almost impossible. Of that 70 million, 18 million of them are related to sleep apnea. This can affect your health in many ways- ranging from Heart attack, High Blood Pressure, Stroke, Headaches and even memory loss.
The Sleep Disorders Center at Parkway Medical Center opened in June 2006, seeing patients 2-3 nights a week and performing 58 sleep studies that year. This year the Sleep Disorders Center will perform over 400 sleep studies, 6 -7 nights a week. It’s good to know that The Sleep Disorders Center at Parkway Medical Center is here to help you get back to a good nights sleep and improve your overall health.
You will receive quality care from our professional and friendly staff that has over 20 years of combined experience in diagnosing and treating sleep disorders. Our board certified sleep specialist Dr. M. Najjar has many years of experience in assisting patients with a variety of sleep issues.
Studies have shown in recent years that children also suffer from a variety of sleep disorders. These disorders are conditions that prevent children from getting a full night of rest on a regular basis. Children who have sleep disorders may have difficulty going to bed and falling asleep, and may frequently awaken during the night. Their sleep patterns may be erratic in terms of regularity and sleep duration and they often may be drowsy during daytime hours. These symptoms may lead to difficulties in a child’s mental and physical development. Children with sleep disorders are also more likely to be moody and to engage in undesirable behavior. Their learning abilities are affected as well, not doing well at school, poor test scores, falling asleep during class. A good night’s sleep is the start of a good day of health, work, school and play.
For that reason, The Sleep Disorders Center at Parkway Medical Center diagnoses and treats pediatric patients (Ages 5 and up) as well as adults. Using the latest technology and diagnostic equipment we are able to diagnose and treat a wide variety of sleep disorders.
